(EECP)  Enhanced External Counterpulsation

EECP is a procedure performed on individuals with angina or heart failure or cardiomyopathy in order to reduce angina symptoms, improved functional capacity and quality of life.

While a patient is undergoing EECP. a series of pneumatic cuffs are placed on both legs and are connected to telemetry monitors that synchronize with the heart rate and rhythm.  When timed appropriately, the heart has to pump against less resistance and also increases the heart circulation.

EECP is a rehab program which is like a cardiac exercise program.  Patients that complete the 35 day treatment session will see improvement in symptoms and improvement in exercise capacity.
