February is American Heart Month!

February, a time traditionally set aside for all things of the heart, is American Heart Month, a federally-designated month since 1964 and a month for reflection of our working together to be a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives.

Globally, cardiovascular diseases also remain the leading cause of death with more than 17.6 million deaths each year. Heart disease and stroke remain the leading cause of death in our nation.

Recently, the 2019 update of our Heart Disease and Stroke Statistics was released publicly and shows that nearly half - 48 percent - of all adults in the United States now have some form of cardiovascular disease.

These sobering statistics remind us that now is the time for all of us to passionately pursue our mission and empower the millions who are counting on us.

February is always a good time to pause and reflect on why we do what we do.

Let's wear red this month to remind ourselves to take better care of our heart health!
